Trying ATRAC1 in software way?
Where can find atracdenc.exe? If you just ask that one, you may start from https://github.com/dcherednik/atracdenc , selecting tag of 0.0.3 at release, click details , then download the zip to enjoy yourself.

.AEA File Codec Info Question...
An alternative ATRAC decoder (and encoder...) exists in the form of "atracdenc" here: https://github.com/dcherednik/atracdenc

Flac to Minidisc
Be careful with LP2/LP4, as WebMinidisc and Platinum MD both use atracdenc for LP2/LP4 and that's currently noticeably worse (especially for LP4) than Sony's ATRAC3 encoder (both the hardware encoder and the one in SonicStage result in better quality files).

Anyone used web.minidisc.wiki for writing?
It's really convenient and the GUI seems similar to but better than Simple MD Burner. Webminidisc SP works great, but the jury is still out on LP2 quality: some people find it--Webminidisc is just a frontend to the ffmpeg conversion tool and the command line atrac encoder atracdenc-- inferior to Sony's encoder. I've tested with several Type-S recorders and I'm not sure I can hear any difference between LP2 written by MD Simple Burner or Webminidisc (atracdenc). At the end of the day, I'm happy with Webminidisc because I don't have to fire up my old Windows XP laptop to run MD Simple Burner anymore.

lossy sound quality and the difference between Type R/S
WebMiniDisc uses an open source ATRAC3 encoder for LP2/4 - some people have said it is not as good as Sony's libraries in SonicStage or recording in LP2/4 mode on the player. I think it was more of a proof of concept/learning experience than an effort to completely replicate or improve on Sony's work. I'd be curious what kind of difference someone like you could pick out between the open source and Sony recording method.

cd2netmd_gui v0.1.5 available for test.
atracdenc - the external ATRAC encoder
-
cd2netmd - a command line tool for Windows to rip CD directly to NetMD.
I can add the LP feature by using the dirty atrac3 encoder to pre-encode the audio track before sending to NetMD devices which don't support the on the fly encoding.

Why does people recommend Platinum MD when even the dev says its LP2 converter is experimental and produces a hiss ?
It's all based on https://github.com/dcherednik/atracdenc

Connecting to a minidisc via the browser
The code demonstrates how with the support of a browser, a combination of different web APIs, including WASM (for audio encoding) can be used to give new life to old technology. Also is an online version of the application that can be used immediately and a video demonstrating how to use it.

Japanese Text in SonicStage
It is also worth noting that web minidisc also has Japanese text support and is way easier to use (plus gives better quality SP). Check out the FAQ on how to get it working.

Web Minidisc now supports groups and full width titles!
Some Japanese players and remotes (models ending with 'K') have high resolution displays capable of displaying Hiragana and Kanji alphabets. Such devices will try to read the titles from the full-width slot first, then fall back to the half-width slot if the full-width one is empty. Devices with low resolution display will only show the title from the half-width slot. More about this here: https://github.com/cybercase/webminidisc/pull/49 and here https://www.reddit.com/r/minidisc/comments/nzzckj/minidisc_kanji_support/

Decompressing AAC
Slightly off topic, but if you have a NetMD device for your MiniDiscs, you could use Stefano Brilli's Web MiniDisc https://stefano.brilli.me/webminidisc/ to transfer the AAC files directly to MD. This would remove the need for optical-out and Audacity. Software details here: https://github.com/cybercase/webminidisc

Just bought an Aiwa NetMD (AM-NX9) and getting an error 'Access Denied' using the Chrome Web MiniDisc site. Any tips?
This might help ... from the installation instructions for Linux on the Stefano's Webminidisc github (https://github.com/cybercase/webminidisc)
