My first foray into k8s - I've deployed a world-class news search engine on www.ausnews.org. It's primarily Australian News focussed, so indexes a bunch of aussie news sites. Searches typically take <15ms. The index is fairly small (~20k docs), but performance is unlikely to change with scale. The whole thing is open source: https://github.com/ausnews/ausnews-search - there's some detail on architecture etc in the README.
