Hop: 25x faster than unzip and 10x faster than tar at reading individual files
Since Hop doesn't do compression, the most appropriate comparison would be to asar
https://github.com/electron/asar
It's not hard being faster than zip if you are not compressing/uncompressing.

2 software devs: We would love to write the code for your idea! Round #3
We just had a look at Twitch Studio for the first time. We've been using OBS so far. It looks like Twitch Studio is closed source and Twitch doesn't have a way for the community to release plugins for it. Twitch Studio is an Electron app, so I was able to reverse-engineer the source code by using asar, but unfortunately Twitch obfuscated all the code which makes it very hard to understand what's going on. Looks like we'd have to wait until Twitch Studio brings official support for developer plugins... (I hope our analysis is right, please correct us if not.)

Injecting electron apps with Crystal
Asar is a simple extensive archive format, it works like tar that concatenates all files together without compression, while having random access support. ~ https://github.com/electron/asar/blob/master/README.md

.xp3 patch data extraction thread
I've had that issue and it was the encryption added by the localization team. I didn't find a way around it. You're using the official release of G-senjou right? Those files seem to use encryption. Seeing as ya can extract and repack all files that aren't those patch.xp3s likely only those had encryption added.

Weekly Threads, Questions, and Recommendations Megathread - Need some help? - Jul 25
Yes but it depends on the VN engine. Most VNs use one of several engines and because of this there are pre-made tools to just open up the archives they use, if its using a unique or fairly rare engine then you may not be able to easily extract. First thing to do is just look at the installed files for the VN, some VNs just store the music as is. If that fails just dig around looking for the file extension of what you suspect contains the music files then whack that into your search engine of choice with "extractor" in it. Theres a solid chance the arc unpacker will work but if not you may have to do more digging, theres no one size fits all solution.
What are some alternatives?
