Installing Bare Metal on MacBook Air (2011)
To use: echo [fanspeed] > /sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768/fan1_min echo [fanspeed] > /sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768/fan2_min Script to change speed: fan.sh #!/bin/bash echo $1 > /sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768/fan1_min echo $1 > /sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768/fan2_min chmod a+x fan.sh sudo ./fan.sh [fanspeed] Where it says [fanspeed], give it a value in RPM. 2000 is quiet. 7000 (noisy) will generally max out a MacBook fan. NOTE: this script sets the Minimum Speed parameter - you can see the defined Max using lm-sensors (below) - usually around 6200 OR Install as service: https://github.com/dgraziotin/mbpfan To check the temps: apt-get install lm-sensors sensors-detect (accept defaults) sensors watch sensors
