Windows Package Manager 1.1

It has been admitted.
This is what an 'extinguish' looks like after embracing the idea of a Windows package manager by interviewing the creator of AppGet and then dumping him to skip the extend part to full on copy it with no credit and bundling it in the OS.
This is a rare straight extinguish after an embrace, especially in open source.
Microsoft: If you have to write a Tech Community article about training users on which of two Teams apps to use in Windows 11, maybe your design is bad?

One thing to keep an eye on is Microsoft's winget. Based off 'AppGet' but unfortunately MS don't prominently allude to winget's origins, although they have offhand mentioned it.
Old school developer, looking for suggestions to modernize my dev environment

Winget: MS's official package manager (available via windows store) but it's also the youngest of the three. This is what i've been using exclusively since earlier this year, because most of what i've been using was supported at that point. Minor annoyance eliminated, can be used in any shell. Note: You won't always instantly have the latest updates, they can be behind by about 1-2 days.
best way to install golang cli apps on windows
2 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 6 Sep 2022
It depends on what you mean by "install" exactly. If you want to appear in the windows installed program list, then chocolately, scoop, winget, or building your own MSI are the way to go (WIX, or other more modern or paid tools...but be warned this is complex). If you just want them to be able to run it (and in the %PATH%) then a simple copy operation is sufficient with perhaps a command-line option to add itself to the %PATH% (requiring elevated privileges perhaps)

Are you trying to do this remotely over PowerShell/SSH? That doesn’t work with the way winget is packaged: https://github.com/microsoft/winget-cli/issues/14743 projects | reddit.com/r/sysadmin | 21 Jul 2022
