Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Reddit signs $60M content licensing deal with AI company
I am glad I trashed my reddit posts/comments before deleting accounts with shreddit [0].

- Are there any new ways to shred Reddit comments and posts, ever since Reddit shut down the API?
-
Will reddit eventually make it harder to delete content due to people like me?
After you get your GDPR file from Reddit (takes a cpl of weeks) via [ https://www.reddit.com/settings/data-request ] I would highly suggest visiting the rust version of shreddit [ https://github.com/andrewbanchich/shreddit ] and pointing it at your GDPR data to fully delete it from Reddits servers. Normal deletes only delete the last 1000 entries, your post and comment history will look empty but if you do a Google search [ site:reddit.com ] you'll find old entries that weren't covered by that (they will appear in your GDPR data).
- UPDATE: /r/PICS is being forced to break the site-wide rules.

Today we bid farewell to Apollo. Goodbye, old friend.

Deleting with the GDPR dump
another tool also named shreddit (not shreddit.com) uses the GDPR file - https://github.com/andrewbanchich/shreddit

I encourage everyone to delete posts that drive traffic to reddit
You should do a GDPR request from reddit. Within a week or so they should send you a .cvs file containing all your data, including links to all your comments. After that arrives, run it through the Rust fork of Shreddit, which can edit and/or delete ALL your stuff in one go.

Leaving Reddit after API changes kill Apollo? Here’s what to do.
Since when does Shreddit cost money? The source code is up on Github with full releases. So weird to make things up about this.
- Don’t delete your posts and comments… OVERWRITE THEM!

We need to switch to FOSS alternatives like Mastodon and Lemmy.
there are many ActivityPub relays - here's a list of some

Reddit CEO doubles down on attack on Apollo developer in drama-filled AMA
Lemmy is simpler, pick an instance and click communities at the top. That'll show you the top communities (subreddits) that the instance has or participates in (which can included communities primarily hosted on other websites). Sure, it can get more complicated, but getting going is easier than on Mastodon where you need to follow people or setup a relay. The federation model will help negate the need for digg to reddit style migrations because inherently one instance goes rogue others can pick up the slack without major impact.

Still waiting on relay approvals
I've added the following list of relays based on this list but out of a 100 posts that show up, there maybe 2 or 3 that are of interest to me. Moreover, there are a lot of posts that are non-English.

Settings: Federation Forwarder - what is it and how to use?
you can use: https://relay.gruenehoelle.nl/inbox - more than 300 instances are using it. More here: https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays
-
Do you use relays on your instance?
What you're supposed to put in that field is a URL of a relay see above https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays
-
Active Mastodon Relays
Stolen from: https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays - and most of them dont work. Use: https://relay.gruenehoelle.nl/inbox ;)
-
Just created an instance, why can't I see any other instances?
The quickest way to get connected to a bunch of other instances right away is to configure relays to fetch stuff from everyone else who uses those relays. There's a good list here: https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays

r/Mastodon open discussion!
If you're running a small or medium server, you may consider adding some federation relays under "Administration -> Dashboard -> Relays".

Fast mastodon relay
realized most relays on https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays are either slow or closed down, so decided to host one under:

Looking for a friendly relay for our instance @maple.social.
All I have found was https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays which was great, a few started working right away, but it seems like a random set of servers, I dunno
