alfresco-collabora-online VS LibreOffice

Open source software is the backbone of the digital world, powering everything from infrastructure tools like Linux and Kubernetes to consumer applications such as Mozilla Firefox and LibreOffice. Despite its free availability and community-driven nature, funding remains a significant challenge for open source development. Without sustainable financial support, even the most widely-used projects risk stagnation or abandonment.

Another prominent example is LibreOffice, which was forked from OpenOffice after Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems. Fearing that the stewardship of OpenOffice might suffer under Oracle, the community forked the project to create LibreOffice, which has since become the more popular and actively developed office suite.

Note: Libreoffice is a good tool to open PDFs to understand how it is organized. It opens PDF documents in the drawing tool. You can make minor edits but it is not really designed for easy editing of PDFs.

First of all, if you need to write a lot of files in the doc format, there's a lovely office suite called libreoffice! Also, cups is a decent print utility for most printers, I'd check that out as well.
