Fastest way to open Messages?
If you use Alfred, consider my workflow, Mouseless Messenger.
-
Which apps are worth every penny and you can't live without?
My most popular workflow is Mouseless Messenger, and it's based entirely in Alfred — written in JXA.

Would anyone with an Apple Silicon Mac mind helping me test something?
I use JXA to write Alfred workflows like Mouseless Messenger. My desktop is an Intel Mac Pro and is where I do most of my development for pretty much everything.

Version 2.0 of Mouseless Messenger is available on GitHub
Feel free to follow me on Twitter or star the repository to get updates for when that releases.

What can AppleScript do?
I write workflows for it using JXA, and the amount of time it's saved me more time than I can even begin to consider. For example, Mouseless Messenger lets me respond to iMessage/SMS without ever leaving the current app or touching the mouse.

How Apple blocks the Taiwanese flag emoji in China
If you're using iCloud Messages, I'm told it may not work correctly. See some of the closed issues on https://github.com/stephancasas/alfred-mouseless-messenger/issues to see what others have done.

What is your favorite Alfred workflows?
Is it shameful to say my own? I wrote Mouseless Messenger so I could read and reply to iMessage/SMS messages from Alfred. It saves me so much clicking and context switching.

How to make quick notes on Mac
Shimmering Obsidian is an Alfred Obsidian workflow that can do what you want, but it may be overkill. I'm using SimpleNote on both my Mac and Android for quick capture (it's similar to Google Keep but supports Markdown), but, even though it is super fast (faster than Obsidian), it does introduce friction to the process (I cut and paste from SimpleNote to Obsidian). I don't mind the friction, though, since the pause allows the idea to take shape a bit, which works well for me. Hope this helps.

Obsidian + Shimmering Obsidian Alfred workflow
If osetup doesn't work correctly, I'd be grateful if you could file a bug report at GitHub :) https://github.com/chrisgrieser/shimmering-obsidian/issues
