Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

[Noob) GitHub Pages from Template Questions
I'm experimenting in moving away from WordPress, so I've been dabbling with Pages.. I cloned a repo from this template, and customized it with my own information, but I have (at least) a couple questions I am trying to sort out.

Getting nerd sniped by GBB
Just a personal opinion: but please enable katex on a post basis instead of enabling it globally. Also consider using https://github.com/linjer/jekyll-katex so you don't need to also rely on katex js and browser-side rendering, just katex css.
