Ah - nice! The scriptblock::create trick is just what I needed - thanks! I take your point about script-injection but I should have been a bit clearer that the "database" is really just a json file for a bookmarking system The intention is to be able to do something like:

Interesting question about invoking from WIN+R - I'm not sure that's possible since it's just invoking a search. Maybe if you did some fancy shell association tricks.... As BlackV suggests, I normally just use a PS shell to do this. You can also use explorer.exe $path of course. If you use use (shameless plug...) jumps you can just use x p.

Took a bit of fiddling but it is done.
- Jumpfs - a utility for sharing file-system bookmarks between PowerShell, WSL and DOS. Also works on native Linux. Built to take the strain off your tab-key.
