I agree with you, the wealth of XNA documentation that's out there will be largely compatible with MonoGame, if not fully. In fact, I think MS still hosts XNA documentation. There's also http://rbwhitaker.wikidot.com/xna-tutorials and https://github.com/simondarksidej/XNAGameStudio/wiki/RiemersArchiveOverview for some tutorial approaches with lots of examples.
