Good day everyone. Are there any news about private servers for the new Classic clients? I remember reading something about them.
Using a combination of the Arctium Launcher and the Hermes Proxy you can connect a 1.14.0 client to a private server, so long as it allows for the client version to connect, as /u/Bruescrues mentioned in another response.

- Any core development using the newer Classic engine?

Playing with a gamepad?
Use the 1.14 client with HermesProxy to have native gamepad support in the client. Not all servers allow you to connect using the HermesProxy, and configuration is a bit unfriendly. I have used the HermesProxy on Everlook and WoW Hardcore with few issues (on an M1 Macbook, no less).

What is your experience using HermesProxy to play with Classic Client
I've read that https://github.com/WowLegacyCore/HermesProxy allows to play with the modern 1.14 Client on vanilla private servers (1.12).

Are there any efforts to engineer the Classic clients for future emulation cores?
https://github.com/WowLegacyCore/HermesProxy is the big deal for Vanilla and TBC.

Resources on playing with 1.14 client
To play with 1.14 there are two steps - get the 1.14 client from https://wowdl.net/fichiers/clients. WoW Classic 1.14.2.42597 All Languages - get Hermes proxy for the client to be able to communicate with 1.12 server. https://github.com/WowLegacyCore/HermesProxy/releases/tag/v3.7 HermesProxy-Windows-v3.7.zip

1.12.1 (Vanilla) vs 1.4 (Classic) client
These are being fixed very rapidly if you keep an eye on their GitHub page. It's impossible to write software for a game as infinitely complex as WoW and not have issues. This is the first time a large volume of people are using it to play 1-60. But this is good -- the bug reports, the fixing, etc. will ultimately continue to improve it.

World of Warcraft is about to get even better on SD!
https://github.com/WowLegacyCore/HermesProxy this will cover using the 1.14/2.5.2 clients to connect to the appropriate legacy server. So, grab client/unpack, grab hermes and that launcher. Add hermes + launcher in steam. Launch Hermes, then Launcher. Proton v37 for both. And if you dont want to deal with the stupid keyboard to enter password for connecting to a legacy server there is a way to set it to auto login. There are a couple of hiccups with hermes... so your experience may differ but short version is on 2.5.2 there is a known bug that the auctioneer addon takes ages to complete and you cannot open or manage a guild bank with the 2.5.2 client. (if your using a 2.4.3 client it works fine). The server I connect to allows both 2.4.3/2.5.2 clients to connect for TBC so depending upon who your connecting to make sure they support hermes or modern clients. And before you ask... no unfortunately hermes does NOT support 3.3.5/3.4.0 or 2.5.3+ Clients
