I am super confused about how to use and install the webnowplaying extension. I have installed and configured rainmeter, I looked around for answers and read the readme files for both the plugin(https://github.com/tjhrulz/WebNowPlaying) and the extension(https://github.com/tjhrulz/WebNowPlaying-BrowserExtension) but I still cant understand what exactly i am supposed to do. Mainly, im wondering if I need the js file in the extensions folder for spicetify and how people are using webnowplaying by only downloading the extension. sorry if i sound erratic, its because i have been doing this for the past 6 hours and it is 3am

The webnowplaying plugin is a 3rd party plugin and what you need if you want to use an online source for music, including the online version of spotify. It requires that you have the plugin installed, have a browser extension added to your browser, and a skin that's coded to use it. Using this method offers much more functionality than the pervious one (and works with the app when you use it in conjunction with spicetify's webnowplaying extension; more below), but because it's 3rd party, when it does sometimes break, there is no guarantee if or when it will be fixed. For example, earlier this year, spotify updated its site and broke the browser extension which effective makes this method unusable with spotify unless you use spicetify as well. But, since the update was apparently released to different places at different times, there's nothing the creator can do until they get it. And, since there hasn't been any updates on the issue in months from what I've seen, for the foreseeable future, this method is only available for online sites other than spotify.

Webnowplaying plugin: While not technically an official part of rainmeter, it's so ubiquitous it might as well be. This plugin allows support for the online version of spotify, along with other online sites. It also provides more functionality, but for it to work you need to install a browser extension as well. Note: this only works with the online version of spotify, not the app. Unfortunately though, the spotify site has been updated recently and somewhat broken things. So, while this is a great option, it's might be best to wait if the online route is the one you want to take.

the skin and hotkeys have to be kinda set up the way you want, it's not a one-click installer type deal, but I included my version of the skin in the WebNowPlayingExample folder, and sample hotkeys too. might require a bit of reading on how rainmeter and autohotkey work if you don't already know. but once you get the basics you can set up hotkeys to use any of the webnowplaying bangs. bang is rainmeter's word for "commands" basically.

Basically what the title says. I have some JS code I'd like to automatically run in a specific moz-extension:// page. In particular, I'm interested in Sidebery's moz-extension://*/sidebar/index.html, but I suspect the answer would be the same for any page. UI customization is fortunately still alive in the wake of XUL extensions.

A /r/firefoxcss mod has a wonderful collection of code snippets that they maintain, which you can browse here: https://mrotherguy.github.io/firefox-csshacks/ and they created a userChrome.js loader here: https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/fx-autoconfig

My favorite customization repository is https://github.com/aminomancer/uc.css.js - which really tests the limits of what is and isn't possible with userChrome.css and .js. My favorite feature is the implementation vertical tabs, without the use of extensions.

Some legacy extensions are maintained and can be found here: https://github.com/xiaoxiaoflood/firefox-scripts/tree/master... (although you will need to use xiaoxiaoflood's userChrome.js loader AFAIK).

Honorable mention goes to the Firefox CSS Store, which can be found here: https://trickypr.github.io/FirefoxCSS-Store.github.io/

Moving to WebExtensions was the logical choice for Firefox, technical/security reasons aside, as they are not alienating extension developers that target Chromium-based browsers.

Yes, they alienated their own extension developers. Yes, they could've handled the transition better, and worked harder towards supporting some of the many APIs/functionalities that extension developers needed (or still need) for their extensions to work in the WebExtensions ecosystem. I myself was quite mad for a very long time at how they handled the switch, but I think overall it's been a success - my own personal feelings aside.

I'm currently using a customized version of Aris-t2's CustomCSSforFx theme, along with /u/It_Was_The_Other_Guy's fx-autoconfig loader for JavaScript. My setup uses the option to put the application menu button in the title bar. In the versions that had this as standard, the menu button disappeared when the menu bar was shown. Is there a way to recreate this with either CSS or JavaScript?
