Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

I have a few arduino unos hangin around. what should i build with them? links to existing projects appreciated.
There are a lot of USB MIDI projects that are easier with a Leonardo or Micro or a Teensy, but I believe you can set up an Uno for USB MIDI? Last I looked, you had to reprogram the USB chip on it for this, which is a little scary, but it's doable; here is a project that lets you do that and which can go back to normal mode (for uploading new Arduino code) without re-reprogramming the USB chip every time.

Show HN: OpenDeck – platform for building MIDI controllers
Sending MIDI is easier than receiving it, but with UsbMidiKlik and some wiring and soldering you can build a MIDI interface based on an Arduino Uno.

Muffin - An open source alternative firmware for the excellent Midi Fighter Twister from DJ Tech Tools
I have created a github repository that is available here. You can track my progress there, but I will post updates here as well.
What are some alternatives?
gd32vf103inator - Program the GD32VF103 using C, your favourite editor and make
midimonster - Multi-protocol control & translation software (ArtNet, MIDI, OSC, sACN, ...)
webmidi - Tame the Web MIDI API. Send and receive MIDI messages with ease. Control instruments with user-friendly functions (playNote, sendPitchBend, etc.). React to MIDI input with simple event listeners (noteon, pitchbend, controlchange, etc.).
midictl - Terminal-based MIDI control panel meant to be fast and simple in use
stm32-bootloader - Customizable Bootloader for STM32 microcontrollers. This example demonstrates how to perform in-application-programming of a firmware located on an external SD card with FAT32 file system.
lpp-performance-cfw - Performance-optimized Launchpad Pro Firmware modification
HoodLoader2 - 16u2 Bootloader to reprogram 16u2 + 328/2560 with Arduino IDE
Tasmota - Alternative firmware for ESP8266 and ESP32 based devices with easy configuration using webUI, OTA updates, automation using timers or rules, expandability and entirely local control over MQTT, HTTP, Serial or KNX. Full documentation at
OpenDeck - Software and hardware platform for simpler building of MIDI controllers.
