Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

- Made a map for my FIL of his favorite ski resorts!

Yosemite Valley 3D-Printed Puzzle
I can't speak for the jigsaw part, but the topographic part is getting easier and easier. https://touchterrain.geol.iastate.edu/ will spit out an STL of pretty much anywhere on Earth.

Here’s a good video for anyone wanting to create terrain models. It shows how to gather the data and use QGIS to output a useable bitmap for common CNC carving methods.
https://touchterrain.geol.iastate.edu/ is a great source for free .stl terrain models. But these folks have the absolute best I've seen: https://maps.equatorstudios.com/ Gotta pay for more than a few models though.
- Working on a “Google Maps” style map. Thought I would share progress!

Completed a US topographic map; do similar STLs exist for the rest of the countries of the world? I want to make a whole world map.
I used https://touchterrain.geol.iastate.edu - you can import a KML file, hidden in Area Selection options. To generate KML, I went on google earth and clicked a whole bunch of times.
- Behold a neat 3D printed map of downtown and the sound!

Anyone interested in a custom carving of their homestead? Mods, please delete if not allowed.
Always happy to share what I know, though it may seem strange to others. If anyone wants to attempt terrain carving, they should. Answered this question above briefly. I buy quality data from these folks. Free models that can be quite serviceable can be had from multiple places like this.

Perf limiting factor for Bambu Lab slicer? Any upgrades to raise the limit?
https://touchterrain.geol.iastate.edu/ (up to 10m resolution) and https://jthatch.com/Terrain2STL/ (90m resolution) can be even simpler if you're just getting into it, and can produce awesome models, but they use lower resolution data sets... so they won't show the fine details that really pop. Lidar based datasets can get down to 1m resolution, or even lower for some datasets. It depends on the scale and size of the object you want to print, really. But having models of many of the peaks and canyons I've hiked, and now my local neighborhood and more... it's pretty awesome.

Designed a dual color topographic map of Utah with streams and lakes highlighted
The map scale is 1:2500000 with a 5x vertical exaggeration and the 3MF files have the base and waterline objects aligned for printing. USGS data, TouchTerrain, and DEM processing were used to generate the models. Chris, who is behind TouchTerrain, was very receptive to my feedback through the process and this would not be possible without his support.
- I 3D printed Mt Sneffles over the last few days. I’ve been up there twice and had weather move in on me both times, so I’ve never seen the view from up there. Definitely a good reason to go back.

Have you tried the augmented NDWI? That link has a ton of other indices too (scroll down for water).

Vegetation Indices to determine the change in vegetation area using aerial images
How do you define vegetation cover to begin with? You'll need some kind of definition that uses RGB only, if you want to use these images. Have a look at this listto see if there's a vegetation index that uses RGB only.
