I have this same complaint and solved it with a pretty simple Python script and TeslaPy. Note: I have a Tesla car as well so I can use the API to talk to both the car and the Powerwall to make more intelligent choices about Powerwall states.

Declaring return variables for assignment, no or yes?
IDK friend, this is all just sounds like type hinting stuff that you really only do if you decide to slave yourself to a linter and conveniently make your code useful for other programmers to work with inside their IDEs. Since its only really there for documentation as far as I'm concerned, I just fiddle around with type hinting until the linter warnings flashing in my IDE calm down.
