Push 2 instead of a Keyboard?
Just for your information: the Komplete Kontrol (keyboard + software) also have training wheels like scale help, arp, fancy light guide. But the integration in Ableton is... minimal (regarding complex operations). It just focuses on what it wants to be: a keyboard with software ecosystem and help stuff. There is also Synthesia as a learning game (synthesiagame.com) with https://github.com/ojacques/SynthesiaKontrol (not sure if it still works).

Maschine MK1 Recycling
Hey, I'm the author of the OpenSource project https://github.com/terminar/rebellion - trying to get some more out of the NI devices. I'm currently "collecting" different devices to be able to test the protocol stuff. Getting the MK1 would maybe make it possible to create some basic (or more) support for these devices.

Found an mk1 - can I use it?
Then try to register it. If native access says: already registered to other account - contact support, provide photo of invoice/billing even if it is second hand. Then they will remove the device from the other account and you can register it within Native access to your account. You then should be able to get the software which is normally provided. But - I am not sure if this works with your MK1. I've done that last week with a native JAM and gave that Tipp several times here, most of the times it worked that way. Good look. Also if you mind - I am tinkering with the NI devices and try to "hack" them for better support or stuff that can be done with the devices. Still alpha but I'm on it. Take a look at https://github.com/terminar/rebellion for more information.

Maschine Mk1 and Macbook M1 Big Sur Compatibility
I am working on something like that since the "official release" of Rebellion (https://github.com/terminar/rebellion). At the discord channel it came to the situation that some NI device owners want to use their Maschine Studio/MK2 or MK2 with iPads as MIDI controller. I am currently porting plain USB functionality without using the native services via USBHID as another backend for Rebellion. Regarding the iOS/iPad stuff the current idea is to use some small embedded devices as gateway with Linux and Rebellion installed onto it (controlling the Maschine hardware and translating that into USBMIDI / Bluetooth MIDI). Rebellion is also usable on MacOS - so I can try to take a look also at the MK1 to provide a MIDI gateway (driver) for it. It's just a hobby/fun project in my spare time and regarding the MK1 i would need your assistance but it seems possible. If you are interested to talk about it reach me via PM or the discord. I'll try to answer your possible questions when I'm online.
