Try installing One Launcher from this site. It works for both LOTRO and DDO. It claims to download faster that the the regular launcher.

Regarding the password thing, you can use an alternative launcher (https://github.com/JuneStepp/OneLauncher) or using launching parameters. Personally, I use "C:\Program Files (x86)\StandingStoneGames\The Lord of the Rings Online\LotroLauncher.exe" -nosplash -skiprawdownload -username YOURUSERNAME -password YOURPASSWORD
