System freezes when starting a VM.
It just hangs on this and will not respond to anything, unless I press the power button. I used this guide: https://github.com/ilayna/Single-GPU-passthrough-amd-nvidia

Single GPU Passthrough Help - AMD GPU (Nobara/Fedora OS to Win11 VM)
I was able to successfully install Windows11 on a virtual machine before starting this passthrough process. I used the code here: https://github.com/ilayna/Single-GPU-passthrough-amd-nvidia to try to get the passthrough working, but when powering up the virtual machine my screen goes black before returning to a restart of my OS. Any help is appreciated.

Linux gaming
Luckily overwatch 2 has worked perfectly for me with lutris + shader caching patch (besides the initial shader compilation, which was a tad slow), it's been fun being able to sit down and play a multiplayer game with some friends without having to boot into windows first, I have considered a VFIO setup, which should let you play anything except maybe rainbow six (curse you ubisoft!!!)

Single GPU pass-through not working even though it should

GPU Passthough works but not the teardown.
I used the script/tutorial form here The startup to VM works but the teardown doesn't. I experimented with other peoples teardown scripts like this one - edited to my system and as i said above, it does come back to the desktop but with an issue.

According to the GitHub page:

-
Pop_Os and Heroic dont launch games
A performance optimiser, GameMode by Feral Interactive. It’s not required for anything to launch (unless maybe you’ve configured something to run via gamemoderun and GameMode isn’t actually installed on your system!)

Can't find gamemode.ini
EDIT: Nevermind, fixed it. Just create a file called gamemode.ini in $HOME/.config/, and copy inside this.

Bottles – Easily run Windows software on Linux
The ArchWiki has some tips that can help tuning your system to squeeze more performance: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/gaming
This launcher does help too: https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode
On top of that, you can use a patched kernel like: https://xanmod.org/
You can check support status for games here: https://www.protondb.com/
If you run games via Proton with DXVK, you can use the environment variable DXVK_HUD=1 to show a HUD with an FPS meter. Some others prefer mangohud.
Setting your CPU frequency scaling governor and GPU to performance mode also helps.
