Sims 1 Port Request
For real advice though, check the GBAtemp forums for coding help and the guy that used to be porting Sims 1 to FreeSO's engine (https://github.com/riperiperi/Simitone) might have some insight.

That's not just UI. That's an entire reimplementation of the game. https://github.com/riperiperi/Simitone

Yes, you can get the Sims 1 working on Windows 10 or 11, with or without a CD drive. Here's how.
Or you can just play Simitone? https://github.com/riperiperi/Simitone Works great

A guide for playing The Sims 1 on Intel and ARM Macs
According to [1] "EA only demanded us not to port the game on mobile devices"; that's the only thing I could find.
It's still on GitHub anyway: https://github.com/riperiperi/Simitone
Looks like the main dev mostly moved on to https://github.com/riperiperi/FreeSO

Off screen pictures of a play test for The Sims 5.
Hell, it's already happening for Sims 1 and Sims Online.

lol
It's at the point where some very popular older games (eg. Rollercoaster Tycoon, Sims 1/Sims Online, Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind) are all getting re-implemented with custom-built open source engines or re-implemented into new engines by the community still playing those games which essentially means they'll likely be playable and getting new content for a very long time into the future. There's also modpacks aimed at being an easy way to have a "remastered" version of the game, for example there's one for 2005's Star Wars Battlefront II, a project aimed at remastering all of Rockstar's PS2-era titles/including a fixpack for the official GTA remasters and two projects aimed at remastering hit n run, one by modding the original game and the other by importing it into UE5. (There's also another person making their own Futurama game by modding Hit n Run)

Intel Drops DirectX 9 Support On Xe, Arc GPUs, Switches to DirectX 12 Emulation
Speaking as someone who plays a lot of retro games, you're almost always better off running one of the already existing software API converters even on AMD or nVidia hardware these days if there's no open-source engine reimplementation that allows you to just run the game with modern code and other tweaks to help modern systems along. (eg. OpenRCT2, Simitone, OpenMW, etc) There's a lot of reasons as to why but essentially it all boils down to the simple fact that the older versions of DX and OpenGL aren't fully supported on modern GPUs, they're supported and probably tested to a certain degree but they're also a much lower priority than say, making sure the hot new FPS launching next month has a driver update that ensures it'll work well.

A guide for playing The Sims 1 on Intel and ARM Macs
Something that I recommend to use if you plan to play The Sims 1 is to use this widescreen patcher: https://github.com/FaithBeam/Sims-1-Complete-Collection-Wide...
It also installs DDrawCompat (or DGVoodoo2) for you, which is useful because vanilla The Sims 1 on Windows 10+ is choppy for some reason, using DDrawCompat (or DGVoodoo2) fixes the choppiness issue.

this was creepy af
While it can work without a widescreen patcher, The Sims 1 under Windows 10+ is veeery sluggish, it feels like the FPS is being capped at ~20, so I 100% recommend you to apply the widescreen patcher to play the game.

Best portable The Sims experience
it wasn't very straight forward, I spent 1-2h to install it. My steps: Install game using lutris, apply no-cd "patch", patch that exe in order to work with steam deck resolution ( patcher link https://github.com/FaithBeam/Sims-1-Complete-Collection-Widescreen-Patcher ) then add it to steam as a non-steam game. and it works perfectly, you have few control presets for steam deck and it's really nice to play with trackpad

Sims resolution.
This allows you to set The Sims 1 to a custom resolution. I'm not using it, myself, but a lot of people love it: https://github.com/FaithBeam/Sims-1-Complete-Collection-Widescreen-Patcher

Intel Drops DirectX 9 Support On Xe, Arc GPUs, Switches to DirectX 12 Emulation
The Sims 1 - Can be made to work flawlessly on modern systems with either dgvoodoo2 or the alternative DDrawCompat, I recommend installing either one via the widescreen patcher as it also allows you to force the game to run at modern resolutions. (Although things get a tad small at 4k, I recommend a maximum resolution of 1080p and just using full-screen FSR for any required upscaling.)

I started playing the Sims 1 today... In the first 5 Minutes of gameplay, my Sim managed to die and burn the house down whilst making a quick breakfast. Just... wow
Download, extract then run The Sims 1 Widescreen Patcher.
