SLASHEM-Extended VS FAangband

New version available on the em.slashem.me server - as always, here's the latest release and the changelog has also been updated. Players who still have an ongoing 2.83 version savegame file should please select " o) Play Slash'EM Extended (old)" from the main menu on the server to finish their old game; rest assured that those games have not been deleted and can still be completed :-)

Happy New Year everyone! Now we can all celebrate, for the Iron Lady has forged yet another new SLEX release: link. Yeah, I know it's just been a week or so since the last one, but I've been busy and fixed several rather severe bugs that were really reducing my enjoyment while playing. Now, with those bugs out of the way, SLEX should be a lot more fun! :-)

I basically play with your history file open but it hasn't been updated since May 2021… Would be could if you could, especially if we could know how you made the game easier in last release? (noticed more healing scrolls, not sure if it's placebo, but sacrificing a little girl's corpse as a chaotic summoned an hostile Jueblex (with a e) so yeah, I'll stay a noob x)

Angband - Popular classic. This game has a large amount of fan-made variants available too. Three very popular variants are PWMAngband, FAangband and Cthangband.

Most of this week was spent fixing bugs in FAangband, which is the game for the current Angband competition. None of these were fountains.

I have done some "wilderness generation" in FAangband by having a base type of terrain for each biome type, and then adding "formations" (random groups of selected other terrain types) and then maybe some other areas (grassed clearings in forest, for example). FAangband has discrete wilderness levels, so the scaling/zooming doesn't apply. I am, though, coming up against similar problems to yours in Beleriand, which has a fixed world map with set biomes at the top level, but has to fill in all the terrain in a natural way. Note that Beleriand is still in its very early stages.

It's worth mentioning that First Age Angband makes much more of an effort to keep the Tolkien lore authentic.
