The people at RetroDECK are working on a significant new update, including Wii U emulation and experimental multi-user support, among many other features.
If you check out the CUP Project: https://github.com/XargonWan/RetroDECK/issues/194 it's within that scope. So we are working on it, it's not an easy task and part one of CUP is "completed" (as a first version) now in 0.7b.

Steam Deck emulation installer EmuDeck 2.1 launched
A similar option is doing this via RetroDeck[0] which is a flatpak wrapper around RetroArch, and includes several more emulators not included in the RA flatpak.

Likely due to running into these graphics driver -> WM and similar compatibility issues and fixing them. The other performance improvements from kernel changes probably don't hurt either.
