One more way to search SearXNG on the Macintosh
Popclip is a very popular application among macOS users that allows us to install small addons that are activated by selecting a text. It has plugins for the main search engines, but it is easy to create one personal for SearXNG. After downloading Popclip on the Mac we install PopMaker. Filling in the data is trivial.

This doesn't replicate your exact request, but I use PopClip (https://pilotmoon.com/popclip) to handle a similar mouse-based copy/paste usecase, plus a number of others via extensions (https://pilotmoon.com/popclip/extensions). Another option for hacking something like this together could be HammerSpoon. I’ve spent some time with it, but haven’t tried integrating with Apple Notes, I mostly did stuff at the file system level to keep it easy.

getting current desktop to show on lockscreen? (MacOS Ventura)
Assuming no one has a cut-and-dried solution that just works, would something like this be possible with say, AppleScript or another scripting tool like Hammerspoon? I've not used either of these tools before, but would be open to seeking out a scripting solution on my own if it's viable. Or am I going to run into insurmountable security restrictions?
