Self-hosted inventory solution for electrical components (Mouser, DigiKey, Farnell...)
I used Part-DB for a while: https://github.com/Part-DB/Part-DB

How do you guys do the inventory management?
Self hosting is certainly the way to go! I prefer partdb to partkeepr, though -- it has an easier to use interface.

Is there a simple inventory manager for home and not IT items?
I first tried Part-DB (https://github.com/Part-DB/Part-DB or the new version https://github.com/Part-DB/Part-DB-symfony still in beta) and I like it but there are still some features missing, like serialnumber support. Currently I‘m testing InvenTree (https://github.com/inventree/InvenTree) which seems promising.

How to assign internal part numbers?
For my hobby electronics organization i use Part-DB (https://github.com/Part-DB/Part-DB-symfony), which for the newer version i have developed in big parts myself. But there are many other free and non-free inventory management systems with specialization on electronics parts, for example Partkeepr, partsbox.io or EleLa

Self-hosted Inventory Manager
You can try InevnTree or Part-DB. There are mostly aimed for labs to track the small electronics (like resistors) but should also work fine for your case.

Inventory system
You can also check out Part-DB. Would love to use it but there are some dealbreakers, at least for me.
What are some alternatives?
