Get pagesetup header from a word document
I also own: - https://github.com/EvotecIT/PSWriteOffice
- How do you read word document files using powershell?
-
If Powershell commands can be ran from C# should I favor writing scripts in C# since Iām more comfortable with C#?
For example: - https://github.com/EvotecIT/ImagePlayground - C# lib that takes care of those hard things in c#, and then PowerShell that just interacts with that lib in PowerShell - https://github.com/EvotecIT/OfficeIMO - C# lib that manage Word, and then https://github.com/EvotecIT/PSWriteOffice which takes that c# library and wraps around it to make it easy for day to day users, and for me to do some PowerShell magic with it without having to do some things I don't want in C#.
-
Extract all text from Microsoft Word document?
https://github.com/EvotecIT/PSWriteOffice based on - https://github.com/EvotecIT/OfficeIMO (C#)
-
Combining binary cmdlets with C#/.NET library/DLL
I wrote https://github.com/EvotecIT/OfficeIMO which is C# Library, which I then use in PowerShell module https://github.com/EvotecIT/PSWriteOffice along with other DLL libraries and expose those using verb-noun (in PowerShell).

$xyz.replace() messes up encoding
You should try and do this properly. Here's a way to do this with proper reading Word and replacing text: - https://github.com/EvotecIT/PSWriteOffice/issues/1
-
Using PS to interact with Office, specifically Word. Is it possible? Is it worth it? Can I automate it? Is there a better alternative?
We do -> https://github.com/EvotecIT/PSWriteOffice :-)

Custom ribbon disappears
Have you tried the Office Ribbon Editor? It makes the XML portion very easy to manage. There might be a weird issue with the way you're currently doing it causing the xml to be removed from the file.
-
Integrating macros on a Custom UI
By using ribbonX (find it here: https://github.com/fernandreu/office-ribbonx-editor) you can create custom toolbars based on XML, however this can be difficult.
-
Making a PowerPoint Add-in
And rather than handcoding the RibbonXML, you'll want a copy of the free Office RibbonX Editor: https://github.com/fernandreu/office-ribbonx-editor
-
best way to distribute a custom tab via add ins?
However, I've always just used this FOSS editor. It's a standalone editor, no need for admin rights, and best of all makes editing the file for the custom tab super easy along with verifying your xml is formatted correctly for the change.
-
[Excel] manual Custom UI ribbon creation?
I create custom tabs using the new fabric custom UI API and office ribbonX editor, which is open source and makes the life so much easier (I believe this may be the tool you're using), if not you should def give it a try. The tool comes in a pre-compiled version that is compressed. No need for admin rights or anything.

Custom Ribbon - How to initialize checkboxes?
I have a workbook with a custom ribbon (added via XML using the Office RibbonX Editor so that the custom ribbon stays with the workbook). In the Ribbon, I have a few checkboxes true/false, that are linked to cells on a worksheet.
- Macro enabled workbook crashing randomly for many users
-
[Excel] Use a macro to add macros to the ribbon?
Office RibbonX Editor - an opensource alternative to Visual Studio (expressly for the purpose of creating the customUI file needed to create a custom Ribbon, not an IDE). The README has good information, and links to further resources for creating an Add-in.
