My PS2 died on me so I fulfilled a childhood dream and replaced it with the Sliver edition. She’s a beaut.
FreeDVDBoot works on SCPH-90000 series. Go to this link and follow the instructions under "Easy setup for all PS2 Slim consoles / Bravia TV". You should boot to homebrew uLaunchELF. If this works, then your PS2 laser can read burned media AND you can use uLaunchELF to run ps2ident or the FMCB installer off of a flash drive. PS2Ident would tell you whether your BIOS is 2.20 (FMCB will work) or 2.30 (FMCB will not). Fortuna can be used on 2.30 versions (google FunTuna).

PS2 Showing as P-Chasis from PS2ident, but R-Chasis on the sticker
Sometimes, Sony makes hardware revisions without changing the chip implementation numbers as well, hence why chip identification may be inaccurate. The chip and version IDs are, however, accurate since they are taken directly from the hardware. https://github.com/ps2homebrew/PS2Ident

Understanding the x86's Decimal Adjust after Addition (DAA) instruction
I have used DAA recently, in my "load option ROM in RAM floppy tool"[0]. Specifically, I use it for printing numbers as hexadecimal[1], as unfortunately the ASCII standard is not arranged in a way as to facilitate this.
