So, these absolute wizards have remade Red Alert, the original C&C, and Dune 2000, but they've updated it for modern computers and monitors, and it has a tonne of additional quality of life improvements, such as full game replays, zooming in and out of the game map, analytics, modding capabilities, map editor, map sharing via the openra resource center.

The /r/OpenRA resource center https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA-Resources is effectively unmaintained and not in good shape. Ask in IRC or Discord for instructions. This is not an easy entry-level task, though.
