Check out OpenKneeboard. You can install (VR and non-VR) and have an image for each aircraft with key performance and engine management data. I like to grab a screenshot from this YT channel.

OpenKneeboard might be able to solve this problem. You can bind commands to a joystick or other device, and if that doesn't work, it also has some utility executables that you could have your button box call to control it.

Do people really enjoy cold starting repeatedly in multiplayer?
Yes, or here's a direct link to the GitHub page for DCSAutoMate. It's reasonably up to date, although I have an F-15E script, and a few tweaks to other scripts, that I haven't yet committed.
