I'm not sure if using octoprint on an unsecure network is a good idea. But aside from that, have you considered this plugin? I think there are more like this.

Cancel objects with gcode sliced by cura?
I did some googling and I guess you're talking about the octoprint plugin located here? As far as I know M486 has never been supported by any slicer.
What are some alternatives?
