IS IT WORTH BUYING
You should try OctoEverywhere for remote access, AI failure detection, and more! I might be biased, since I’m the developer behind the project. But I would love to know what you think if you try it!

Installed Octoprint on Windows, am unable to add plugins

Reaching Octoprint from your Android phone
To fix your problem: There are however various solutions to access/connect to your octoprint instance when you are not at home. I myself for example am using a VPN that's hosted on my router which I can login to. Then, my cellphone data internet connection works like as if I were at home in my local network (WiFi), hence giving me access to my octoprint instance. Another possibility would be to use services like OctoEverywhere. There you would have to create an account and install the plugin in octoprint. Basically it works like this: your printer connects to the servers from OctoEverywhere via a secure connection. OctoEverywhere will then provide you with an URL where you can connect to your printer (via their servers).

Pause alarm
I mean I guess the simplest way would be to use something like OctoEverywhere to send a notification when the print is paused.

Nexus AI failure detection - please share experiences if you use it
OctoEverywhere : Failure detection worked OK but missed a lot. It was expensive for home use. Obico self hosted : fails to connect to server often, also missed a lot.

How could I send .gcode wirelessly
The cheapest way is to use OctoPrint. Octoprint itself is free, and although it's often run on a Raspberry Pi, it can be installed on many things, such as an old laptop runing Linux or even Windows, or a small single-board computer. OctoPrint would connect to the printer using a USB cable, and you'd send the slicer output to Octoprint over your WiFi.

- Two LibreELEC (https://libreelec.tv/) mediaplayers in house (yes, one is not enough in my big family).
- One for hosting low usage applications at home network (Unifi controller and some more).
- Octoprint (https://octoprint.org) connected to the 3d-printer.
- One on my desk for hardware hacking – mostly as just a PC with GPIO.
- Some Raspberry Pi Zeros as security cameras.

[3D Printer] (Microcenter In-Store Only) Creality Ender 3 V2 3D Printer - $99.99 ($279.00-$179.01)
Really quite easy, especially if you have ever dealt with a raspberry pi before. Once installed & set up, you manage everything over a web interface. I even added a webcam to it in order to see what's going on. Check out https://octoprint.org/

For other devices it can be harder, there are guides for installing on Linux on the octoprint website (I use an old laptop running Linux Mint). If using an old Android phone look for Octo4A.
