A lot of companies have specific new grad roles you can apply to. Also, there’s more repositories like this, just google “new grad GitHub repository” and they should come up, some better than others and someone recent than others, good luck!

Simple answer: start working on a project, and grinding leetcode! Your IT internship won't help at all, so start now and dedicate this fall semster to excelling in your classes, build 2 somewhat decent projects(full-stack, or whatever you are interested in), do ~150 leetcode problems, and don't look back, just forward. the main avenue to apply is through online applications. Last year, there was a list maintained here. The list for this year is here. You'll also be able to find opportunities on linkedin & handshake. Generally, employers don't give a shit about cover letters.
