Is there anything to be done about new Android version problems?
There's an unstable release of the Android port on GitHub that works on Android 11+: https://github.com/gurrhack/NetHack-Android/releases/tag/v3.6.6-2-unstable . I was able to install and launch it on my Pixel 6 running Android 12.

I think is early alpha. If you are interested in NetHack, try this android port https://github.com/gurrhack/NetHack-Android/releases or try https://pathos.azurewebsites.net/ however keep in mind, to my knowledge Gnollhack is Nethack variant, Pathos is base on Nethack.

I play Nethack by gurr. Had 11 ascensions. Although latest update not on playstore yet but available on github https://github.com/gurrhack/NetHack-Android

Nethack on a Motorola Droid
gurrhack has working builds of nethack , unnethack and slash'em extended on his github, I have no ieda what version of android you have on the Motorola Droid but maybe they will work, if they do work they are very much playable
