How to open multiple applications via shortcuts at once combined with the use of virutal desktops
Have you considered Vdesk? It's open source and does most or all of what you want to achieve. The software is here https://github.com/eksime/VDesk and a description of its functionality is here https://www.ghacks.net/2016/06/15/vdesk-virtual-desktops-windows-10/

Install VDesk to open programs on specific virtual desktops
Hi there, I've been trying to find a way of defining programs to open in specific virtual desktops but I'm not quite sure how to get there. I've found this Github page approaching the goal I'm searching but I'm having some problems implementing it. I'm new to Github so there's a possibility that the program does work and I'm just being way too Gullible. Most of the time I find either .exe files or a readme explaining how to install things but I'm just struggling with it this time :s

Virtual desktops now support rearrange and per-desktop wallpapers (Dev Channel Build 21337)
You can kind of apply a band-aid fix to it by using an application called VDesk and launching the application using that with the corresponding flags to assign them to their respective virtual desktops but it's a very hacky experience where you'll have to replace the app's shortcuts with one that uses VDesk instead.
