Is it possible to reduce the mouse polling rate in Linux?
Since you're saying it's 1000Hz, I'm guessing it's an intellimouse? A quick search in the Piper issue board lead me to this post (and the following posts) which lead me to intellimouse-ctl. Might be worth a try.
