Microphone software
For the Mic mute there are a few free programs which can do that. One is called MicMute and another is called MicSwitch. At least one of them can use a hotkey.
-
Win11 - Is there a SHORTCUT to activate the microphone the EXACT same way as if clicking the mic button on the virtual keyboard IN THE TASKBAR
I don’t think you can natively, but there are apps that will do it. This one looks promising.

A 5-inch Touch Screen and Rainmeter, an Alternative to a StreamDeck or MIDI Device
Finally, the last program I used is called MicSwitch. This program is actually something I had used before buying the 5-inch display, I just used a hotkey instead. This lets me mute or unmute my microphone using one of the dock's buttons. I used MicSwitch's overlay function to have an updating indicator on the dock. I just placed it over the button.
- I would like to have the ability to speak without pressing a key for a few seconds in voice chat.

micSwitch - mute/unmute your system microphone

I can no longer hide from hunts
Even if you dont have a switch, you can still mute your mic using MicSwitch, which in my opinion is arguably better as it allows you to set your own hotkeys, and choose between toggling your mic and push to talk/mute. Certainly, any way of mic muting is the way to go here.

Hotkey to mute Microsoft Team Call
I basically use the system-wide mute/unmute toggle via this app. https://github.com/iXab3r/MicSwitch - its very reliable... you can also assign your own hotkey in the app itself

Just a friendly heads-up that a program called MicSwitch exists. It lets you bind mic muting to a key, gives you a sound when you go on/off mute, and lets you customize an overlay that shows you if you're muted or not.
-
Need a utility that can mute a microphone that doesn't have on/off button with a hotkey
Here are two, which work pretty good. Pick one. You can download the binaries for Windows from the Release Pages. AHK MicMute and MicSwitch. First one maybe needs AutoHotkey installed.

Fig Is Sunsetting
Having contributed to the Fig autocomplete specs, I find this sad. The Amazon product Fig was built into basically works as replacement, which is good. Still, the core value of this product are the open-source autocomplete specs: https://github.com/withfig/autocomplete. What's going to happen to that? It looks like they are still using it in the Amazon product. It should definitely be possible for an open-source re-implementation of the Fig UI to use those specs. There is a lot of knowledge encoded in there!

Ask HN: Alternatives to fig.io as it has signups disabled?
Fig is awesome but with signups blocked[1] for 2+mo already it's also as good as dead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AWS CloudWatch Evidently The worst. No comment. AWS seems to perpetually lack a good DX for developers. It appears that they don't recognize or continually undervalue the importance of roles other than engineers, such as Product Managers or Designers. Very disappointing. However, AWS has recently acquired Fig, so looks like they're now pursuing an acquisition strategy instead. Let's see how it turns it out, and let's hope they don't ruin Fig, since it's such an useful tool.

Ask HN: What are some well-designed websites?
slightly tangential, but where do people get awesome landing pages like linear(https://fig.io/. has similar landing page) etc. Do they build them in-house or buy templates somewhere? Many of the recently launched YC companies have awesome landing pages. eg. https://automorphic.ai/,

Fig Has Joined AWS
I love this product, have contributed several times to it, and I'm a little torn. One thing I am thinking about now, is that the completion specs are MIT-licensed, and it should be possible to use them to re-implement a basic open-source version of the autocompletion product... https://github.com/withfig/autocomplete
