No worries, it's super easy assuming you have a windows PC - guide here. I'm the developer of it so any questions let me know. Meanwhile I used it to make this map of teddy bears. It's possible map76 isn't totally in-date so worth checking here too.

ELI5 SDK.NET for ESRI products
NetTopologySuite is popular .NET port of the JTS Topology Suite, though I have not used this. SharpMap is another popular mapping library, though it looks like active development on this may have slowed down. Also, not surprisingly, Bing Maps has quite a few .NET libraries.
