edk2 VS single-gpu-passthrough

OVMF: edk2-stable202302 patched with ACRN patch (https://github.com/johnmave126/edk2/tree/intel-gop-patch, also see https://github.com/Kethen/edk2)

Can't use Kethen/edk2 because my BIOS update has no IntelGopDriver (it doesn't even have IntelGopVbt but rather IntelGopVbt2)

I wanted to share some tips on how to get this working. The repo below allows you to build an OVMF bios which allows a UEFI virtual machine to work with display output when using Intel integrated graphics: https://github.com/Kethen/edk2

I used my laptop BIOS file from which I extracted the efi IntelGopDriver and vbt files (note that it seems to have two vbt in BIOS file), I used the same one I found in "/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_vbt", then I recompiled OVMF with this files using https://github.com/Kethen/edk2.

For Haswell, IGD/GVT-d is possible. Use -machine pc (i440fx) + Kethen/edk2 + vbios_gvt_uefi.rom + x-igd-gms=2. You might be able to get -machine q35 + to work but without boot display. Look for a single GPU passthrough script.

Try Kethen/edk2.

I was able to get laptop display output to work via i440fx (machine) + Kethen/edk2's OVMF (UEFI) + vbios_gvt_uefi.rom (romfile) + x-igd-gms=2 (2 * 32MB graphics memory). I think you might need to also use CPU host passthrough but I'm not sure.

I got i440fx with boot display + OS display to work using Kethen's edk2 + vbios_gvt_uefi.rom

The main guides I have used are the bryansteiner guide, the risingprismtv guide and this Ubuntu 22.04 guide.

I am following this guide to achieve Single-GPU passthrough. I am stuck at step 5, because when I run the VM for the first time to install Windows, instead it shows me a black screen with "TianoCore" when I press a key to boot the CD-ROM drive.

Not long ago I setup single GPU pass through following the instructions the risingprism wiki (https://gitlab.com/risingprismtv/single-gpu-passthrough). This all went very smoothly and works great.

I just finished the coveted RisingPrism guide for Single GPU-Passthrough for a Windows 11 VM, and while I was successful for the most part, it wasn't entirely smooth.

i basically followed this guide to a tee, and for some reason whenever i try booting into the VM, all i get is a black screen with my cursor. is there anything i can do to fix this?

Okay so issue, and how this all kind of ties together. I followed a siggle pass trough guide (https://gitlab.com/risingprismtv/single-gpu-passthrough/-/wikis/home) and I got the log which I replied to this comment which prompted me to do the ACS override pacth which didnt work and then I came here after I tried some other stuff. Back to the present I'm not sure how to fix this issue now (decided to restart over) , so in step 3 (IOMMU groups) It said to skip steps 8 and 9 if my devices were in 2 different groups, so i did, and now i get this.

I followed Risingprism's guide to Single GPU Passthrough. Currently though, disk usage is slow for me. The system often hangs when moving files around, and I can't move two files at the same time or else none of them get moved, I have to pause one.
