Whisky VS winetricks

Step 1: Install Whisky + Winetricks with Homebrew.

Download Whisky from https://github.com/IsaacMarovitz/Whisky/releases, copy it to your applications folder.

EDIT: It seems like some folks couldn't get beta 2 to run either. I've double confirmed that both the initial release and beta 2 work great for me on macOS 13.4.1 using Whisky, but with beta 3, Apple blocks you from even trying to use it.

The only magic of Proton is handled by Steam. Proton itself is just providing the tools for the job, as you put it. There are already rapidly developing tools such as https://github.com/IsaacMarovitz/Whisky that give you a UI to launch games and apps using Apple's GPT. In theory, you could run the Windows version of Steam inside it and then launch apps from there and it would look a lot like what Proton does.

When it comes to wine everything is the same except the steam part. When it comes to that you need to install winetricks package. The link is here https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks.

i changed to lutris. Game runs well there too. Finally i got Winetricks working there but its meh. Mangohud shows only wine version 5. and i get this error when i try to install vcredist19. (i get spammed with errors) https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks/issues/1770

Wine is a very cool project dedicated to getting Windows apps running on other systems. You'd really want Wine and Winetricks which handles a lot of setup for games for you.
