Proposal: User Flair System
Based on this, we’re interested in your thoughts on us experimenting with a custom user flair system powered by InstaMod. InstaMod is a Reddit bot with many features which could allow us to flair users automatically on an ongoing basis.
-
Automated User Flair
Automated flairs would involve using InstaMod, a bot which would automatically assign user flairs based on a set of custom criteria. The best example of how this can be used is in /r/CryptoCurrency, which has five million members. You can read how they describe the system to their mods here. Here's the FAQ page they have for helping their users understand it.
- Best chain for Twitter?
-
Timed user flair to mark new members?
You can also look into InstaMod though I'm not sure if it's accepting new subs
-
How to make automod assign user flairs according to the number of posts in the last 30 days?
Unfortunately that's not something Automod can do. But you can look into InstaMod (settings), though I don't think it supports a timeframe
- R/Jasmytoken needs a new moderator!

How to give user flair based on subreddit activity?
look into InstaMod - Info / settings

Need helo on how to give automatic flair to users?

haha yes
I mean, theres u/MAGIC_EYE_BOT which, in my experience, works very well. There's also a GitHub page for it explaining how to set it up, its not very hard and should go fairly fast. Alternatively, I also know u/RepostSentinel which, I heard, tends to be simpler in its setup

Where are the images stored?
There is a technical description in the github, but the short version is the raw images aren't stored. They go through what's called a hashing process where they are converted into a reduced image that looks like this:

/r/ProgrammerHumor Today
there's MAGIC_EYE_BOT, which supports complex workflows

Someone can help me setting the bot?
The documentation is here: https://github.com/downfromthetrees/the_magic_eye/blob/master/README.md

Introducing our new repost checker Magic_Eye_Bot!!
Hello everyone as some of you are aware Redditbooru is shutting down today, and I wish the creator of it much health and happiness. But that means a lot of subs like us lose their best way to check reposts. So I've signed us up with u/MAGIC_EYE_BOT. You can read all about him here but basically he scans images and gifs and detects reposts. And if you ever have any complaints with his work then just reply to him and he will immediately escalate the image to us to put human eyes on it. So I hope you will all welcome our new bot friend. Thank you and that is all from for now!

Subreddit changes and updates
I've gotten a lot of messages, reports, and comments recently about karma bots reposting old images for the purpose of karma whoring. In order to help combat this issue, I've added u/MAGIC_EYE_BOT as a moderator. If you want to read more about it, you can find an FAQ here or read its documentation here. A lot of larger subreddits use this bot with great success, so I'm hoping it'll help here as well. If you submit a post and it's removed by MAGIC_EYE_BOT, you'll know because the bot will leave a comment stating why it was removed. If this is done in error, simply message the mods and we'll fix you up.

Bots that help with moderating
Repost detection: * TheReposterminator (a RepostSentinel replacement since it doesn't accept any more subs) * MAGIC_EYE_BOT * RepostSleuthBot * RepostMemer (checks "other subreddit that have that image as well and also the bot looks for that same image over the internet.") * DuplicateDestroyer ("It works on images, videos, links, and optionally titles") [send the settings as a modmail from the subreddit - each setting in a different line as Code Block/Markdown]

Thinking of setting up a new raid system for the sub - need feedback
Are you familiar with /u/Magic_Eye_bot? For each sub it mods it will look at a wiki page inside that sub. The parameters can be configured there.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing InstaMod-2.0 and the_magic_eye you can also consider the following projects:
modlogs - A service for allowing subreddits to publish their moderator logs
Taskerbot - A reddit bot to make moderation easier, especially on mobile.
