This page documents what is known about the Starbound file formats. tl;dr worlds use a B-tree based format to store chunks. Objects (e.g., blocks, objects, NPCs, creatures) within chunks are stored in a binary blob format that can be converted to/from JSON.

Any Good World Editors?
Unfortunately, Starbound world files have been only partially reverse engineered. While tool support for reading a world file is pretty good, tool support for editing world files is virtually non-existent. Py-starbound is pretty much the gold standard for parsing Starbound files. It includes a pystarbound-repair program, but I'm not sure if that would fix your issue, and could break your world even more.

Some of them are indeed SBON, but not all.
