On the linux side, recently I hacked on freerdp to get basic pen & eraser functionality working from the X11 client to be able to remote from linux to windows: https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/pull/9080

Our Linux and Mac users have long used RDP to log into Windows. That's largely obsolete, so the plan is for the remaining Windows to be Infrastructure-as-Code via DSC.

FreeRDP has had RemoteApp support for a long time. I'd try out that client and see if you could get debugging messages -- or possibly it might just work? They have documentation on the protocol, and pointers to Microsoft's documentation.

For Linux there is XRDP as well as FreeRDP https://www.freerdp.com both open sourced recreations of the original RDP standard and available for Operating Systems like Linux.

Perhaps this issue addresses your concern? In fullscreen mode the toolbar only locks to the top or bottom, but in a non-fullscreen maximized window the toolbar can also be set to the left or right.

This is a known issue with the Remmina snap package. You can find more info about it here. Hopefully we'll have this issue resolved soon so in the next release or two it will no longer be a problem

Are you talking about Remmina local icons or remote desktop/server content? HiDPI support is not currently available across all linux desktop environments. The better desktop supporting HiDPI is currently KDE Plasma. For XFCE try to see here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HiDPI#Xfce There are plans to improve and standardize HiDPI support in various linux destkop communities. With fractional scaling too. But we will only see a standard implementation in no less than 3-5 years and not for Xorg. Only for wayland. Ah okay you're using PipeWire, I haven't used it myself so I've done some searching and found this issue from three months ago

I'm not 100% versed in the technical details of how all parts interact, but I was specifically referring to the Remmina wiki page that claims it's impossible to fix under Gnome with gtk 3/4 for both integer and fractional scaling cases.
