How to rebuild an ender 3 extender? Full explanation in comments
If all you've done is change buildplate size and Z height, you just need to make sure cura knows and find firmware here: https://github.com/enderextender/FirmwareReleases

Ender 3 V2 - extruder seems to be reversed after firmware 4.2.7 update
I upgraded my ender 3 v2 with the ender extender 400 kit, and I also upgraded the boards firmware to 4.2.7 from this file for the ender extender 400 kit. Since the firmware update, it seems like the extruder is now reversed. It retracts where it should be extracting (I believe thats the right term?). So I am kind of at a loss for why it is happening. Ive tried using base settings in cura and prusaslicer but still get the same results. It was working fine before the firmware update, so Im assuming its something in the firmware code. Any tips or help or really anything at this point would be appreciated.

I'm no galactic armory but I am extremely proud of my adventures with the Ender Extender
Thanks!! I made sure to watch the videos on what settings to use from their YouTube channel. And the 400xl is working out great for this project but it definitely has its drawbacks compared to a CR10 or Ender 5. It pushes the limits for the simple gantry that the Ender 3 uses. I did need to update the firmware as well. I was worried that I'd be in over my head with the firmware side of the project but luckily I found that there's a repo on GitHub with all the firmware files that you may need.

Looking for precompiled EnderExtender Aquila firmware for N32 Boards with CRTouch installed.
Might be a good place to start: https://github.com/enderextender/FirmwareReleases/tree/main/Aquila_N32. I'd bet the bltouch firmware would work with a crtouch, since they're pretty similar.

ENDER 3 EXTENDER400 W/ CRTOUCH/ AUTO BED LEVELING
Recently I completed my Ender 3 400 extension. I updated my firmware from This GITHUB. The new .Bin worked like a dream except it used the CR touch probe as a z endstop and removed my autobedleveling function my CR touch had with the regular 235X235 bed. I reverted back to my original firmware however the bed would only autolevel the 235X235 bed dimensions. To correct this I attempted to compile the new firmware myself by watching Teaching Tech Videos. My luck would have it that after following every step in the video my software would be buggy and keep my Z axis from moving up and down correctly. After many attempts to fix this issue, I am throwing in the towel. Would anyone in the community be able to help?

Why Prusa is floundering, and how you can avoid their fate
There is _a lot_ wrong with Marlin. It is a complex codebase, full with ancient artefacts, litterred with preprocessor ifdefs every 2-3 lines of code, dynamic includes in the middle of CPP files, etc[1]. It's about as unreadable as C++ code gets--well, I guess it's not template metaprogramming.
Klipper by contrast is a breeze to read through[2].
I am very grateful for Marlin, for all of reprap, and everyone who has contributed to it. But saying there is nothing wrong with it is straight up misguided.

E steps way off.
I think you are mistaken. I can't speak for implementations preceding the Ender 3 V2, so what you're saying may have been true at some point for other machines. However, here you can see Marlin developers confirm that there is an EEPROM on the stock E2V2 board using diagrams from Creality and photographic confirmation. Here is the datasheet for the EEPROM. Here is a thread discussing this Marlin release, and also the then-recent release of official Creality firmware which resolved the same issue. Since the stock firmware is based on Marlin, and at the time Marlin did not support this type of EEPROM, the EEPROM was not usable at launch. Any mainstream firmware (official or third-party) from the last three years will be using the onboard EEPROM unless the user intentionally specified otherwise.

Need advice on intermittent thermal runaway (Ender 3 V2)
Any change of thermistor or to a PT100/PT1000 will require recompiling the firmware, because every type has different characteristics. Marlin uses an internal table to calculate the temperature for whatever reading it gets from the CPU's analogue-to-digital converter. It has many tables for different thermistors, but only one is ever incorporated at compile time. So you have to specify which type you're using. You can see the commonly-used types in the list in Marlin's Configuration.h file, in the section headed // @section temperature. The tables themselves are in Marlin/src/module/thermistor.
