Good distro for SP7?
I recommend Fedora Workstation or KDE Spin. Choose what you want. In my experience, as surprising as it may be, KDE works better with a touchscreen and a virtual keyboard, so I use Fedora KDE and am very happy with my SP6. Fedora is the best configured distro for SP series ever made. Everything works just out of the box. And also can recommend this guide. It is awesome for Fedora. Yeah, always use KDE latest version, any point release fixes tones of bugs. Also you can use SDDM with wayland as of now. Just install sddm-wayland-plasma end enjoy. Good luck. SP and Linux are awesome!

Fedora using more cpu than W10 for video
I have installed intel-media-driver, that's the one that should work better with the igpu that I have (I think I read it's recommended from Gen8 upwards). Then I followed the steps in here, mainly the ones of the 'media codecs' and 'hw video acceleration' sections (with RPMfusion repos installed).
