Upload options for FactorioMaps?
For those wondering, the map photos are taken via the factorio timelapse mod with full info provided in the git repository.

Vanilla Factorio has what is essentially a train traffic heatmap, just by toggling on "show rail signals" in map view. Red is heavily congested with trains, green means no trains present. (Base credit goes to u/gregggor and his friend, not me)
In the bottom right of the rendered map is a link to FactorioMaps which has instructions, mod link, and more to help you get going. I've run this two or three times myself so far.

Finally hit 13 SPM!
OK actually he just uses some python and this: https://github.com/L0laapk3/FactorioMaps/blob/master/README.md, not the one that is an actual mod to the game.

Any way to programmatically take a screenshot?
I think you can specify a save file in the CLI when launching the game. In that case you could automate unpacking the save zip, append a screenshot command to the control.lua, then launch the unpacked save directory with the CLI, and it'll automatically take the screenshot at launch. You could take some inspiration from my timelapse tool for parts of that.

Best way to get clean screenshots?
I'll also plug my own tool, which works with a replay save rather than the live game.
-
I made a tool that records timelapses of your replay saves
The script, and a collection of related tools, is available here: https://github.com/emlun/factorio-replay-timelapse
