Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

EPSN: Extraction of Sports Particulars as Network
Hi Everyone, this past semester I was enrolled in a Network Science course in my Masters program. For a final project, I really struggled in finding solid data for an analysis that hasn’t already been reused a lot (this is the karate dataset, similar to the iris dataset for ML). So I decided to create an API Wrapper of Sportsipy that transforms associations of players or teams into networks called EPSN!

Unfortunately I don't think you're doing anything wrong, I think the sportsipy package is just a wee bit broken. There's a bunch of related (ongoing) issues on the repo about Boxscore failing to pull data from sports-reference.
