What are your must-have plugins/resources for ED?

im just tryin to relax while exploring @_@
That's one of the things I like about EDDiscovery's text-to-speech plugin, when you're jumping to a system where you'll arrive at a white dwarf / neutron star it gives you an audible warning to throttle down during your hyperspace jump. Something along the lines of "Warning: star is dangerous. Throttle down now!"

Favorite Third-Party Tools?
EDDiscovery or EDMC to update the EDDN and have useful information at your fingertips. I prefer EDDiscovery, hugely useful for explorers. Link your account to keep your info up to date and keep the community up to date to allow nearly all these other tools to work.

NEWB starting at -1 on this!
YouTube, Reddit, and the forums are your friend, there are also many the third party sites and applications available to help you to navigate and locate facilities within the game. The most commonly recommended site is Inara and the applications recommended to support it are ED Market Connector or ED Discovery. The applications send market data that Inara use to keep track of the trade markets, they include search functions which help you to find what stations have what services, including what ships and modules are available. Inara can also track your commander data to if you make an account and link it to your Frontier account.

I found a very strange planet in the black with an extremely high orbital eccentricity (0.9926), to the point where it breaks the ornery view of its orbital trajectory
(In case you haven't done so yet I suggest running EDDiscovery or EDDLite so it'll be recorded/updated to EDAstro.)
-
How long did it take you to stop messing with your deck
On PC I was using EDD, which integrates with sites like Inara.cz

Starting My Deep Space Journey
My personal choice at the moment is EDMC; it has plugin support with some being very useful for exploration. Already mentioned is EDDiscovery - this is a more 'full on' tool but it's packed with features. There's also a new-ish one I've not yet tried myself that's designed to be far more light-weight; EDDLite.
-
I'm not very bright, but i love this game
Oh also a great utility to have installed if on PC is EDDiscovery it provides a ton of information that can be very useful. If you ever setup accounts on 3rd party sites such as EDSM, Inara, Coriolis, ED Shipyard, ED Astro, or EDDN Network among others it can integrate with those accounts as well!
-
How long until you can expect INARA prices to be invalid?
If you run ED Market Connector or ED Discovery in the background, they send the market data that Inara uses to track commodity prices.
-
Is there a way to see how many bio samples am I carrying with me?
EDDiscovery, Organic scans window/tab. It will also tell you the total value before the bonus.

Amazon Prime Video Will Start Showing Ads on January 29
You can get Lutris: It's an open source launcher that you login into with GOG account and it will download the games and wrap them with Wine, similar to Steam.

Making the switch - what are the gaps?
For "normal" games you could look yourself using ProtonDB regarding every game released on Steam and AreWeAntiCheatYet for most multiplayer games. If a game isn't available on Steam you have three possibilities. First if it's available on GOG, Epic Games or Amazon Gaming, you could use the Heroic Games Launcher. Second you could try to run the launchers through Steam itself using once again Proton. Third you could try installing it with a script or tutorial in Lutris or Bottles.

WoW Season of Discovery freezes on every honorable kill!
Can I suggest you head over to the lutris.net site and follow the link the lutris discord - with what you are describing, it would take me 20 minutes to get the base battle.net working so you can see what is causing your issue or 3 days back and forwards here. As a hint, your wine version has known issues, and unless you manually installed the lutris 0.5.14 from the git page in Mint, or are running flatpak, you have other issues related to that

Lutris how to make Nvidia primary Gpu
Hmmm I remember there was some confusion in Lutris around this, like https://github.com/lutris/lutris/issues/4237 , and I had to do some workaround. But I can't check what exactly right now...

Windows 11 is last in gaming performance tests against 3 Linux gaming distros
As a data point, you can run a fair number of Windows games under Proton by using Lutris instead of Steam:
* https://lutris.net
* https://github.com/lutris/lutris
It's an OSS game launcher that takes the place of Steam, and you can set things up to run locally so you don't even need an account on their system (lutris.net).
