FWIW: Rooting seems fairly easy at this point in time, at least for pixel devices.

Flash with magisk, install Universal Safetynet Fix (https://github.com/Displax/safetynet-fix/) and you're passing safetynet / play integrity API.

I haven't come across a single app that doesn't work due to root currently, but I limit my installed apps.

Several LineageOS devs create unofficial builds & threads on the XDA forum for testing purposes then launch official ones published in https://download.lineageos.org/ after making sure all is OK and getting approved by peers in the LineageOS Gerrit code review.

So that's why we keep telling folk that if there's no exact match on the downloads page, LineageOS will not work on your device unless you make your own port which contains a suitable device tree and driver set

When I attempted to download Lineage OS for my Apollo (Mi 10T), I encountered an issue as the Downloads site is down due to a server outage. However, I managed to find a workaround that, although a bit complicated, is definitely worth it. Here's the procedure:

We only support LineageOS, not things 'based on' LineageOS. LineageOS is only distributed from https://download.lineageos.org -- anything from any other site is unofficial, even if it doesn't say so.

First off, LineageOS builds are available in two editions, there are builds that support microG and ones that do not. I am talking about vanilla LineageOS without microG out of the box. I tried LineageOS for microG but I want to use Play Store. In microG edition I couldn't install it because of FakeStore (yes, there is no ability to remove it, I tried many ways).
