The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

How do I write a program/function in C that counts how many days it’s been running?
This assumes you are using a convenience library such as https://github.com/NorthernWidget/DS3231.

Compilation Error Keep on ocurring
That's saying that the compiler can't find any constructor function matching your number and types of arguments, in your case two uint8_t values. C++ allows many constructor functions for a class as long as they are unique in the number and type of arguments. The compiler tries to match your code to the defined signatures* in the header file. You solve the problem by looking at the documentation for the DS3231 library. That arduino page points to the actual documentation by the library author where the basic usage is described:

Need help connecting DS3231 RTC to Lolin32 Lite board - No I2C devices found
instead of using a i2c scanner as your code suggest i would start with a proven driver.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing DS3231 and ErriezDS3231 you can also consider the following projects:
logic-analyzer - Logic Analyzer, for Arduino, AVR, ESP8266 and STM32 with a very nice working processing interface, you could run it also on any Android device.
DS3232RTC - Arduino Library for Maxim Integrated DS3232 and DS3231 Real-Time Clocks
ErriezTTP229TouchKeypad - TTP229 touch sensitive keypad library for Arduino
Arduino-AppleMIDI-Library - Send and receive MIDI messages over Ethernet (rtpMIDI or AppleMIDI)
PCF8575_library - i2c 16bits digital expander with i2c digital expander for Arduino, Raspberry Pi Pico and rp2040 boards, esp32, SMT32 and ESP8266. Can read write digital values with only 2 wire. Very simple and encoder support. Uncommet NOT_SEQUENTIAL_PINOUT define to have pins like datasheet and not sequential one.
