I like CustomTkinter. A UI library based on Tkinter, so you can also use Tkinter along with it.

GUI's for a Desktop App in Python: Kivy, Pyside or TKinter?
All tkinter widgets with exceptio of Canvas are currently supported and ttk themed widgets used whenever possible. I plan to add support CustomTkinter eventually.

both custom tkinter and pyqt5 have somewhat "modern" looks.

What's the best way to create a simple program with a GUI in 2023 for a complete noob that runs in any OS?
If you go for tkinter, I recommend you use CustomTkinter instead. It looks much nicer with no extra effort

Anyone have any complex examples of a tkinter GUI desktop app that I could download and take a look at? I want to see it's capabilities before I commit too much time into tackling a project with it.
Through my short time searching I found this one: https://github.com/pyGuru123/Tkinter-Applications but again, it is just "simple".
