Alternative to Adobe Garamond Pro which is readable on screen (specifically, MS Word)?
The Cormorant family.. Absolutely gorgeous (IMWO), inspired by the Garamonds, and OFL licensed. How can you go wrong?

Call me crazy but I love the capital Q's in this font (EB Garamond). It looks good on the Kindle.

What am I doing wrong? I have done almost everything but the font won't work. Saw many people on google with the same problem
To explain, though, here's the url you have in your screenshot. https://github.com/CatharsisFonts/Cormorant/blob/master/fonts/ttf/Cormorant-Bold.ttf

Free Garamond alternatives with fixed italic 'h' ?
Have you looked at Cormorant? It's a huge Garamond-based font family (9 styles × 5 weights) and it's open source. The second stem of the italic /h turns outward, which sounds like what you're looking for (the second stem of an italic /h often turns inward, making it look similar to a /b).

Anyone have any font ideas?
The font need to merge all the changes made by Octavio, which is taking long time for Georg to finish and release the fixed version.

Using a macro to print text inside of another macro works on Overleaf, but not on my local installation
These are based on work done by a friend (he also changes the color; I don't). NB: I use the version of the font EB Garamond found at the Github repository of Octavio Pardo. This is the same version that is loaded with usepackage{ebgaramond}. The liturgy font is available here (it is a free font and can be loaded to the Overleaf directory).

EB Garamond (Pardo): what features does it actually have?
In the version shipped with TeXLive, however, this seems to no longer be fully functioning (and instead just changes all U to V and all u to v, without any change of non-initial v to u). There doesn't appear to be any good documentation of that version readily available. (This EBGaramond12 github is the one in TeXLive, according to the output of otfinfo.) It's not obvious what the stylstic sets 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 7 are doing, but none of them are controling the u substitution like SS02 does for the original. If I load the original font via fontspec, I do get the appropriate initial u-to-v substitution and non-initial-v-to-u substitution)

Why some people hate EB Garamond font
I'm not designer or typographer, when I found EB Garamond font and tested it I was pleased with the output result and how the font looks good on my produced and printed PDF files, I used both versions from Octavio Pardo and Georg Duffner, but two people who are indulged in commercial printing told me that the font is not professional and I should buy a well made paid Garamond font to see the difference, so what is the benefits of paid one over the free one ?

Ban Garamond? C’mon, People, It’s Not Exactly Comic Sans - The D.C. Circuit Court would prefer to deliver justice in Times New Roman, thank you very much.
On Microsoft Word you get Monotype Garamond. Doesn’t have opentype features (not even ligatures, or old-style figures). There are better alternatives imho, even the open source EB Garamond.
What are some alternatives?
